IOSA Workshop: Luann Hayes
(September 10, 2016)

Purposeful Play:
Creative Learning for Preschool and Primary-Level Music Makers
Experience the joyful nature of Orff-based learning for young music makers. This is play with a purpose as we explore the creative challenge of planning lessons for this age group. Come prepared to sing, dance, chant, and play while exploring age-appropriate materials and curriculum integration ideas.
LuAnn teaches pre-K–2 general music classes at Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville, Kentucky. She is also actively involved in the school’s extra-curricular Arts Academy and is a member of the piano faculty as well as teaching Orff based toddler/parent music classes.
LuAnn received a B.A. in Music Education and Elementary Education from Albion College (Albion, Michigan) and a M.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois where she also received her Level I Orff training. She completed her Level II and III Orff training at the University of Kentucky and is a past president of the Kentucky Orff-Schulwerk Association.
LuAnn served as the co-chair of the 2012 AOSA Professional Development Conference and recently completed her term as a Region VI Representative on the AOSA National Board of Trustees.
