What is the Indiana Orff-Schulwerk Association?
The Indiana Orff-Schulwerk Association (IOSA) is a chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. IOSA is a professional organization of music and movement educators dedicated to the creative teaching approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman.
IOSA is dedicated to helping teachers provide quality music and movement education. We believe that learning about music, to sing and play, to hear and understand, to move and create should be an active and joyful experience available to all children.
Indiana is the birthplace of American Orff Schulwerk. In 1963 a small group of Indiana music educators met in Muncie, Indiana and formed the beginnings of the American Orff Schulwerk Association. In 1993 IOSA hosted the AOSA National Conference during the 20th Anniversary celebration. AOSA has grown to over 10,000 members.
IOSA offers four professional development workshops each year to members. For more information, see our Workshop schedule.
